Precision Engineered, Fully Featured, Super Lightweight Free Touring Bindings

The Core 12 Pro has all of features you want in a fully fledged free touring binding: easy step in, cleanly integrated brakes and crampon slots, release value range up to 12, superb downhill performance, 5 climbing positions, independent vertical and horizontal release. All of these features at an impressive 0.66 Kg per pair! The Core 12 Pro improves on the Five Star rated Core 12:

  1. The toe has a much wider mounting base, uphill retention adjustment and "snow block" design to prevent snow infiltration.
  2. The rear mounted brake is robust, easy to operate and lighter.
  3. Optional Freeride Spacers make the Core 12 Pro identical to the ATK FR14, other than the 5-12 release range.

All of this state of the art design is combined in a binding which is super light, looks great and is competitively priced.

The Core 12 Pro is an excellent choice for ski tourers and free tourers wanting solid ski performance, boot retention, robust and reliable construction and a full set of features from their touring bindings at the lowest possible weight.

  • The Core 12 Pro is made for HAGAN in partnership with ATK. ATK is well respected for exceptionally high quality, craftsmanship and functionality and manufactures a wide variety of bindings and other alpine touring gear in Italy. HAGAN partnered with ATK to bring what we feel are their best products to North America. The Core 12 Pro is identical to the ATK R12 other than (a nicer) color.

Wide toe and heel mounts effectively transfer power. The patented E.R.S. ® (Elastic Response System) system absorbs energy resulting in consistent release values while allowing the ski to flex naturally under compression for improved downhill performance. The heel pivots rotationally to provide consistent release and retention. Available Freeride spacers further improve performance and effectively make the Core 12 Pro identical to the ATK FR14 other than the release range.

One of the unique features of Hagan Core and Pure bindings is the patented CAM release system. This clever design utilizes a Cam profile pressed against the heel pins by a pre-tensioned spring. When a boot steps into the binding or a fall requires vertical release, the CAM profile provides precise resistance to the pins. This system allows accurate, adjustable control of the release tension while maintaining very easy step in and solid power transfer while skiing at minimal weight. The patented CAM heel system adjusts to impact forces, providing far better control and skiing precision than simple “U Forks.”

Touring bindings spend the majority of their time going up, and the Core Pro's refined Magneto ® heel climbing aids are easily flippable with pole or hand for five climbing positions. Two climbing positions can be selected without any need to twist the heel piece, making for far safer adjustments in precarious situations. At only 333 grams, the Core 12 Pro is the lightest high-performance free ride touring binding in the world!

The Core 12 Pro features easy toe entry and quick and secure clamping that is far superior to standard tech bindings. The toe is designed for much easier step-in, even with older and worn boots. The heel piece can be turned in any direction. Integrated crampon hooks allow stress-free ascents up bulletproof snow or in no-fall zones. All adjustments on the binding can be made with a standard Phillips screwdriver, so you can leave a few extra tools out of your pack. Constructed predominantly from alloy, the Core 12 Pro feels solid and robust while still coming in feather light. Rip the biggest, baddest, remotest lines you can find with the Hagan Core Pro binding.

    • ELASTIC RESPONSE SYSTEM: an elastic sliding system in the heel allows unrestrained flex of the ski during compression and excellent skiing performance
    • CAM RELEASE SYSTEM: stabilizes the heel pins and provides the typical torsional stiffness of ATK® bindings
    • RELEASE VALUES: fully adjustable VERTICAL (My) and LATERAL (Mz) release systems (5-12)
    • HEEL FLAP WITH RAISER: provides 3 different walking modes: FLAT MODE, +36 mm and +50 mm
    • 25 mm ADJUSTMENT PLATE: integrated in the heel part enables fast adjustment for boot substitution (up to 3 full sizes)
    • SNOW BLOCK TOE: prevents snow/ice infiltration
    • U.H.V.® System (Up-hill Hardness Variator): Uphill retention adjustment system built into the toe. It compensates for boot insert wear and tear, provides a proper locking strength for each user and reduces the pressures on the locking mechanism.
    • CRAMPONS SLOT: built in
    • SKI-BRAKE: included with 86, 91, 97, 102, 108, and 120 mm sizes to provide the perfect fit with any ski model
    • SKI-BRAKE CAPS: co-molded, with a geometry for braking efficiency and made of Charged Nylon
  • Reviewers thought the following of the previous Core 12, before the Pro improvements!

    • "In spite of its infinitesimal weight, the Core 12 packs a bevy of punches that put other diminutive tech bindings on the ropes."
    • "This is a full-function, lightweight and solid binding," said our tech editor.
    • "Felt as powerful and stable as any tech offerings on the market, only being outperformed downhill by the Shift," another opined. (Note, the Shift, without crampon mounts, weights 2.9 TIMES as much as the Core 12 Pro. Go lighter, go faster, go farther with the Core 12 Pro.)
Blister Gear Reviews had this to say:
    • I felt more confident skiing hard downhill on it than on any other binding in this test.
    • The only binding in this test with independently adjustable vertical and lateral release values in the heel.
    • The heel risers of this binding are easily the best in the group. Its overall performance makes it my favorite binding of the group.

  • Core 12 Pro and Pure 10 Differences

    • Toe Pieces: The Core 12 Pro toe piece has the retention adjustment system, Snow Block and a much wider mounting plate.
    • Risers: Two magnetic flaps on the Core Pro provide 5 climbing positions, a single flap on the Pure 8/10 provides 3.
    • Length Adjustment: 20mm for the Pure, 25mm for the Core.
    • Release Range: Pure 10 is DIN 5-10, Core Pro is DIN 5-12.

    Core 12 Pro Features

MAGNETO ® HEEL RISERS: intuitive heel flap system which provides 5 different climbing modes including flat. Easily change between two positions with your pole basket.
CAM HEEL RELEASE SYSTEM ® (Adjustable Release 5-12): a cam system which drives the Vertical release (My) of the binding in case of a fall. The cam system is extremely precise and reliable, and at the same time very light and small.
ROTATIONAL SYSTEM (Adjustable Release 5-12): this patented system provides the side release (Mz) adjustment.
25 mm ADJUSTMENT PLATE: integrated in the heel part enables fast adjustment in case of boot substitution (up to 2.5 sizes).

INTEGRATED CRAMPON HOOKS ®: crampon hooks integrated into the toe piece.

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR CORE 12 PRO BINDINGS: The new Hagan Core 12 Pro bindings are the result of careful design studies and the application of the most innovative mechanical processing techniques. They meet the fundamental requirements of demanding ski tourers common to all Hagan products: lightness, performance and reliability. Thorough knowledge of the binding is necessary to make the most of the Core 12 Pro's functionality. In this video, ATK's Davide Indulti provides all the secrets of the Core 12 Pro/ATK R12/FR14, including useful suggestions for optimal use of your bindings. (Davide is Italian and our bindings are Italian-made. If your Italian isn't molto buono, use closed captioning.)
