Very interesting, if somewhat obvious, research showing the disadvantage of overly wide skis.
The scourge of wide skis hit much harder here than in Europe, which is why lazy “drifting” (promoted as “smearing” - a good thing!! - by companies like DPS) is so evident here. Americans can’t edge their skis!!
Mike Whelan is doing a great video series on skiing all the snowy state high points from Maine to California. Wyoming's Gannett Peak is the 23rd, and hardest peak summited so far in his Skiing States project, an original goal started in 1998.
